In the late 1980's, a Pasadena, California artisan was inspired by the "ultimate bungalows" of the Greene brothers and the architects working in the craftsman style along the Arroyo Seco. He decided to start a company to build lighting fixtures worthy of these grand homes and named it for a pamphlet published in 1909 by the Arroyo Guild.
Arroyo Craftsman lighting fixtures are still made in Baldwin Park, California from solid heavy-gauge brass. The glass is held in place with both silicone and welded retaining clips to ensure that your fixture will not rattle or shake in the wind, and will stand the test of time. The hand-applied finishes are the best in the industry and give each fixture its own character. The Mission Brown, Bronze, Raw Copper and Verdigris Patina undergo an intensive and time-consuming process resulting in a complex and naturally aged appearance.
Each fixture is custom-made to your request so please allow 8-10 weeks for delivery of your lighting.
We will happily accept exchanges in the rare case of a defect from the maker or damage during delivery. Just send us a photo and we will get your item repaired, replaced, or whatever we have to do to make it right. Unfortunately we cannot accept returns on custom-made lighting.
All materials and component parts are warranted to be free from defects for a period of one year from the date of purchase. Please take care not to order free-hanging fixtures for locations which may be exposed to high winds. Also note that damp-rated fixtures are suitable for locations under an overhang such as a porch roof or eave, while you will need a wet-rated fixture for areas more fully exposed.
Arroyo Craftsman recommends cleaning with a soft cloth and warm water. Some finishes, such as the Raw Copper and Mission Brown will continue to oxidize and gain character over time, this is natural. We do not recommend using wax or bare hands on these finishes as they will pick up the oils and change the nature of the finish. You may apply wax to the Antique Brass, Antique Bronze, Antique Copper, and Verdigris Patina finishes to maintain their protection from the elements, these are lacquered finishes and will not be harmed.
Satin Black, Rustic Brown, Pewter, and Slate are powder-coated finishes and are durable and consistent.
All finishes will darken with age and may vary from photos and from fixture to fixture, since each is hand-applied.
