Birch Bark and Birds Tile

Motawi

  • $126

Originally painted in 2005, Birch Bark & Birds shows three nuthatches playing amongst birch trees, a common setting for many of Charley Harper’s pieces.  The nuthatches provide a touch of color and energy to the forest scene while the birch trees display the simple, geometric beauty that Harper found in all aspects of nature.  This 8x8 tile’s playful scene and intricate design make this a must have for all Motawi fans.

  • Mid-century modern meets Motawi mastery in these tiles based on the work of celebrated wildlife artist Charley Harper (1922-2007), a self-described "minimal realist."
  • Actual tile size: 7-13/16" square
  • Tiles are 5/8" thick and have a notch at the back for hanging.

Motawi polychrome tiles are striking individual art pieces as much as functional tile installation accents. Each one is made by hand and with heart in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Nawal Motawi and Motawi Tileworks of Ann Arbor, Michigan are great friends of Modern Bungalow. Nawal is an inspiration in her artistry, design and business acumen. We love their tile in framed sets, in installations like fireplaces and backsplashes, and just on its own on a sweet little easel.

There are too many great designs to choose favorites, but we love the songbirds and all of the Pine Landscape tiles- especially the special Colorado Pine Landscape that Motawi Tileworks made just for us!

We carry a large selection of Motawi art and decorative tiles in our showroom, including limited edition, discontinued, and special edition pieces.

We also work with our customers to design backsplash, fireplace, and other installations to truly make your home unique. Ask us anytime!
