Wykehamist Earth Rug
The Wykehamist is a bold pattern that plays with proportion between the field and border. Originally designed by CFA Voysey in 1897, this design was popular in the English Arts and Crafts movement and was also produced as wallpaper and woven textiles.
Tracy Davis and Danielle Freudenthal, the co-founders of Guildcraft Carpets, believe that living with beautiful objects nourishes the soul, and that the art interpreted by rug-weaving should be as timeless as the tradition itself.
Guildcraft Carpets is a designer of hand-woven carpets in styles inspired by CFA Voysey, William Morris, Archibald Knox and Frank Lloyd Wright. These designs are interpreted in the finest natural materials such as mohair, silk, hemp, and New Zealand and exotic wools, as well as stable vegetable and metal complex dyes. These carpets, which are our thickest, softest and most plush, are handmade in Goodweave-certified child-labor free workshops in northern India.
The styles shown are typically in-stock at Modern Bungalow or Guildcrafts's US warehouse, so they can be delivered in 1-2 weeks. UPS ground shipping is free. If you'd like a custom size, please contact us and we will give you a quote for price and lead time. UPS ground shipping is free on all rugs.
As with all of our hand-knotted rugs, if you like a pattern and would like to see it in your home, just purchase a 2'x3' size and keep it for as long as you like. We will ship in a reusable carton and when you're ready, you can "trade up" and receive full value toward the purchase of a larger carpet.
