FAQs:

Rugs are stored rolled up or folded to prevent creases and damage. They are kept in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture to maintain their vibrant colors and prevent fading or mildew. Proper storage helps extend the life and beauty of handmade rugs.

When storing a rug, it's best to store it horizontally or rolled up horizontally. Storing a rug vertically for an extended period can cause the fibers to stretch and distort the shape of the rug over time due to the weight of the rug pulling downwards. Horizontal storage helps distribute the weight evenly and prevents any stretching or warping.

When rolling a rug for storage, you should roll it with the pile facing inward.

Here are the proper steps:

  1. Lay the rug face down on a clean, dry surface.
  2. Start at one of the short ends and begin rolling the rug towards the other short end.
  3. As you roll, be gentle and avoid compressing the pile too tightly.
  4. The pile/face of the rug should end up on the inside of the roll

Rolling a rug with the pile facing inwards protects the surface fibers from getting crushed or damaged during storage. It also helps prevent dirt and debris from settling into the pile while rolled up.

Be sure to roll the rug as smoothly as possible without any folds or creases. This rolling method will help preserve the rug's condition until you are ready to unroll and use it again.
